The Amazing Tester Photos for the Zip Around Town Wallet

Posted on September 20, 2018 by Erin Erickson | 1 Comments

Your response over the weekend to the Zip Around Town Wallet has been overwhelming. So many of you have already made and shared your wallets in the Facebook group and they all look fantastic. I kind of love that most of you are not afraid to cut into your “good” fabric with one of my patterns, because that’s absolutely my intention. However, I do not expect that my *pattern testers* will also choose to use the good stuff. Except that they totally did. And the results are amazing! (Click to enlarge any photo!)

Bree from @mycraftycrap made hers with Star Wars fabric because why not? It is stunning!

Candy (Grandma G) who blogs at A Photo’s Worth chose this gorgeous color combination. I haven’t made one with a brightly colored zipper yet since most of my samples were with grey linen. That must change! And thank you to Candy for fixing my typos! :)

Cara from Early Bird Stitches used kitty astronaut fabric for hers that is too cute for words. Cara is an awesome tester who catches most of my mistakes!! Thank you Cara!

Marianne aced her topstitching on this gold metallic linen and I am in love. You should follow her because everything she makes is this pretty! :)

Kay always doubts herself, which is absurd, because look at these! On the second one she swapped out the card slots for a 4×6 notebook pocket with a pen loop and it is brilliant.

Janet from @forgetitnotdesigns makes beautiful things out of cork, so she made a second one with a cork exterior and the first one has a raw edge ID pocket and spine which saves some fabric folding time.

Carrie decided to fussy cut the spine on her second one to feature this cool clarinet. As a former clarinet player, I totally approve!

Janet made hers to match her Spring Fling. We were able to verify that the Zip Around Town Wallet does fit nicely inside!

Judi chose a solid color inside, which may not show the individual pockets but I think it looks super professional. I also love that the lining is fully hidden and does not peek out anywhere, so you can go for a contrast or bright color inside and no one will see it unless you want them to!

Karen used cotton lycra, which was a bold choice. She said it was thick but this print was only available in CL, so she made it work! The strap is also leather.

Margareth’s bags are always gorgeous and her copy editing skills are also much appreciated!! I love the floral pocket on this!

Yeechi sewed hers while she was at a sewing retreat. I’m not sure if that is more or less distracting than toddlers, but it’s nice to know it does not require full concentration!

Melanie used purple chevron print on hers that’s so pretty!

And finally, Ruth had taken a sewing hiatus and I’m thrilled she is back with these blue stars!

A huge thank you again to all of my enthusiastic testers, without which there would be three Step 5’s and two Piece E’s!
