Almost done! Sammy Bag

Posted on November 24, 2010 by Erin Erickson | 2 Comments

Sam is not in the mood to model today, so we will try again tomorrow, but the bag is finished! I’ll be at my desk editing and exporting pics all afternoon and then I can go snuggle in with a doggie and my laptop and write the pattern instructions. I have a lot of Yorkie people waiting for this one! I’ve made many of these for Sam, tweaking them slightly each time. I considered making a larger size, but who wants to carry a dog that’s heavier than 6-8 pounds anyway? I decided against pockets as well because I didn’t want to take away from the sling aspect of it. This is designed to hold your little dog close while you walk around a store or festival or even around the house (especially if you need to keep her out of trouble!) Loading up pockets takes space away from the dog, and I always keep a pouch on the leash for treats and a cleanup bag anyway.

I really love the finished shape. It sits higher than a typical cross-body bag to help keep your pup up against your body and prevents the bag from swinging too much while you walk. I love that I can easily rest my forearm and hand on Sam’s back. Overall, I’m quite happy with it. Hopefully we will have a productive photo shoot tomorrow!

UPDATE: Sammy Bag is available here!
